Prices for Hula
Aloha E Komo Mai (Howdy and blessings)
Full
Hula, Texas style shows go as follows, generally:
Our show is a tour of the islands of Hawaii andTahiti and maybe a visit to New Zealand if poi spinning is done. Nacheska explains the rich Aloha spirit of Hula while comparing it to the Lone Star spirit of Texas all the while demonstrating and teaching the hula at your event. We can do dances beginning with auana (modern) Hulas and later in the show visit ancient Hawaii.(Kahiko) I explain Hula (meaning “dance” in the lovely Hawaiian language) and take a tour of Hawaii and the dances, the rich history, and stories behind the dancing that they are viewing. After we do two or three dances, we bring the Wahini’s (ladies/Gals) up for a dance and teach while volunteers in the audience play Puili Sticks (a simple musical instrument that we hand out) during their on stage class. Then we teach “Hukilau” for your loved ones/friends/coworkers and I move to a Kalohe (comedy) piece which is funny. Then we are on to ancient Hawaii where we visit a dance style and stories (Mele) that have been handed down through history of the islands. We do several Kahiko (ancient) hulas. We will visit the Maori tribe of New Zealand for some poi spinning and then on to Tahiti, talking about the difference in costuming and dance movements. I tell the story (Otea) of the dance we perform and after that bring the Kane's (men) up from the audience for the Tahitian War Dance (aparima) ….very fun and funny and a great finish to the show. This show is also great for a business club meeting where there is audience participation...the women could learn Hula, while the men could learn some Tahitian. At this time there are 4-6 of us and we perform as we are available. We would love to bring Aloha and Texas spicy friendliness to your event!
I do have access to fire spinners, fire breathers, light and wonderful poi spinners to enhance your event for approx. $75-$100 a show depending on where we are driving and what you wish...they would open and close the night show dynamically as a solo....or you can hire more depending on your budget, the environment, and need. (fire can be outside only and lots of open area is needed) The regular show that I do lasts 45 minutes to one hour and contains 8-10 dances depending on time and audience enthusiasm. In the case of special
events, birthdays, weddings, I can issue a proclamation to the honored ones in the
form of a poem that they get to keep. (In these cases information needs to be
provided in advance)
Also, I give gifts of ankle/wrist leis, and leis to those brave
enough to perform with our lovely dancers…and have special dances that we do for
events…Hawaiian wedding dance, Beautiful Kauai etc. I can vary the
show time and content according to your special event. (the prices below
are a general idea of my charge) We are happy to share our talent and
art with you and your guests.
